TUES 1  ST. DAVID  Heavenly Father, we give thanks for the holy life of St. David and for all Christians in Wales now and through the ages. Bless your churches in Wales, we pray, and we especially commit to you our congregation of St. David’s in Fron and ask that you will encourage and guide them as they plan for the future.

WED 2  ASH WEDNESDAY  Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing that you have made and forgive the sins of all those who are penitent: create and make in us new and contrite hearts that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may receive from you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you , in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen  (Collect)

THURS 3 Let us pray for the members of St. Mary’s Church Committee, for God’s blessing on them and for wisdom in their discussions and decisions so God’s will is done in our churches.

Let us also pray for a good response to this year’s Lent Group tomorrow morning and ask our Lord to bless the sessions over the next weeks.

FRID 4 WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER  Thank you, O Lord, for the great contribution of women to your church in the world. May your blessing rest upon them, especially those whose faith and witness are devalued or who suffer because of their loyalty to you.  We pray that the special services taking place today will bring comfort and encouragement to all who participate.

SAT 5  Let us pray for the happiness and well-being of the residents and staff of Chirk Court.

SUN 6  Heavenly Father, we pray for a joyful and well attended Family Service today and give thanks for any families who come, asking you to bless them and all in the church who contribute towards work with children and young people.

MON 7  Let us pray for an increase in opportunities to hold church and community events and ask God to guide the people planning such occasions.

TUES 8  Lord, we ask you to bless the first meeting of the Churches Together Committee for a long time; may the discussions and decisions made prove fruitful for our churches and communities.

WED 9  Heavenly Father, we commit to you any families considering a baptism or a wedding at our two churches in the following months. Please encourage and guide them in their decisions and preparations.

THURS 10  We praise you, O God, for the wardens of our churches and those who have been helping them; may they know your blessing as they dedicate their time and energy to serving you and the church communities. We also give thanks for the members of St. David’s Committee meeting this evening and pray for the Spirit’s guidance regarding their decisions.

FRID 11 Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher.  And when you turn to the right or the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ Isaiah 30.21

SAT 12  We pray today, O God, for the governors, staff and pupils of our local schools and ask that you will help any new governors as they learn about the schools and try to help them thrive.

SUN 13  As we offer up our worship to God today, whether in church or at home, may it be focused and worthy of Him . Let us give thanks that whatever Covid restrictions might still be in place, that nothing can separate us from God and his love.

MON 14  O God Almighty, we praise you for the richness and beauty of our church and local environment. Help us to do all we can to conserve these qualities and we ask for your blessing on our efforts.

TUES 15  Heavenly Father, we pray for your blessing on all who live along Bee Bank in Fron.

WED 16  O for a closer walk with God,/a calm and heav’nly frame;/a light to shine upon the road/that leads me to the Lamb.

THURS 17  ST.PATRICK  Lord God Almighty, we give thanks for the life and mission of St. Patrick as he sought to spread and deepen the Christian faith of the people in Ireland.  We pray for all Christians in Northern and Southern Ireland and for your guidance as the various denominations move forward into 2022.

FRID 18  Loving Lord, we bring before you all whom we know who are ill.  May they know your healing touch and be granted wholeness in body, mind and spirit.

SAT 19  ST. JOSEPH As we remember Joseph and his part in welcoming Jesus and helping to raise him, let us pray for all father figures, especially those involved in adoption, fostering or accepting the offspring of a new partner: may God grant them the love, understanding and patience they need for those in their care.

SUN 20  Holy Lord, may your blessing rest on all churches, ministers and congregations in the Offa Mission Area, and help them as Covid restrictions lift and new opportunities for mission and worship arise.

MON 21 Thank God every morning when you get up that you have something to do which must be done whether you like it or not. Being forced to work, and forced to do your best, will breed in you temperance, self-control, diligence, strength of will , content and a hundred other virtues the idle never know.

Charles Kingsley (1819-75)

TUES 22  Heavenly Father, we pray for the young people in the Chirk and Fron areas and ask that they might receive the encouragement and support they need, whether in the family or school, college or employment. We also pray for any organisations seeking to help and involve them.

WED 23  O God we thank you that you hear us however and whenever we call out to you and that you can communicate with us in so many ways, and we need no technology or money to maintain our relationship with you However, we commit to you people who are hard of hearing and whose lives are adversely affected by their problem; may they receive the help they need. Please bless all who work to improve the lives of the deaf.

THURS 24  Holy Lord, we thank you for the blessing of the Eucharist.  May all who attend the service today find strength and comfort in their special meeting with you.

FRID 25  ANNUNCIATION  We beseech you, O Lord, pour your grace into our hearts, that as we have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ by the message of an angel, so by his cross and passion we may be brought to the glory of his resurrection. Amen  (Collect)

SAT 26  Yesterday was the UN Victims of Slavery day.  We are sorry, Almighty God for the times in the past when slavery was practised; help us to focus now on how we can help people today who are enslaved or treated as such.  We ask that work to improve their lot might be successful and that the modern slaves might know release and a new life of hope.

SUN 27 MOTHERING SUNDAY On this special day , we give you thanks for our churches and their role in nurturing and encouraging their members- your children.  We also give thanks for our parents but pray for people who have suffered or do suffer from inadequate parenting and lack of real love and care.

MON 28  Lord, may your loving blessing rest on all who live in Lloyds Lane, Chirk.

TUES 29  O God, we give you thanks for our local hospitals and and Health Centre, and ask you to bless the staff and patients in these places as your work of healing is carried out there.  We also commit to you all volunteers and fundraisers linked to the hospitals.

WED 30  Lord God, we look at the world around us  and seem to see and hear little of peace.  All we can do is put your world into your hands and in our own ways promote love and harmony and freedom from fear.  Please, God of Peace, come to our aid.

THURS 31 As Lent progresses, Lord, may we progress in our search for a purer life and a better relationship with you and our fellow human beings.  Keep us, O Lord, steadfast in our journey of faith and the difficulties we might face, so that as Jesus did, we too might overcome, and so fulfil your will.
