Prayer diary written by Hilary Prescott.
FRID 1 Heavenly Father, may my New Year’s Resolutions , helped by your Holy Spirit, be to get to know you better and to follow faithfully that great resolution- to love you with all my heart and all my soul and my neighbour as myself.
SAT 2 Lord God, we pray for the ministers and congregations of the Offa Mission Area, and ask that this year, despite the circumstances, might be a powerful year in our worship, witness and mission.
SUN 3 Holy God, we offer this day and the time of our worship up to you, that they might glorify you in word and deed. Help us to stay focused on you and your will for us.
MON 4 Loving Lord God, we pray for the people whom the Offa Mission Area has been supporting in Tanganyika. May they and all who are working to bring them help, receive your enriching blessing.
TUES 5 Heavenly Father, we pray for all involved in researching, delivering and administering the Covid 19 vaccines. Thank you for them and their work, O Lord. We pray that the systems may work effectively and that all who receive the vaccines might find hope and healing.
WED 6 O God, who by the leading of a star manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: mercifully grant that we, who know you only now by faith, may at last behold your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen (collect)
THURS 7 Brightest and best /of the suns of the morning,/dawn on our darkness/and lend us thine aid;/star of the east, the horizon adorning,/guide where our infant redeemer is laid.
Vainly we offer /each humble oblation,/vainly with gifts/would his favour secure:/richer by far /is the heart’s adoration,/dearer to God /are the prayers of the poor.
FRID 8 Thank you, Lord, for our Church Treasurers and our Gift Aid representative and for all their hard work. May they be granted the time, patience and energy they need for their work- which all helps to promote your work.
