WED 1  Heavenly Father, we pray that the heavy agenda at today’s St. Mary’s Committee Meeting will be dealt with quickly and efficiently , guided by the Holy Spirit.

THURS 2  Come, ye thankful people, come,/raise the song of harvest –home!/All is safely gathered in,/ere the winter storms begin;/God our maker, doth provide/for our wants to be supplied;/come to God’s own temple, come;/raise the song of harvest-home!

FRID 3  Thank you, O Lord, for everyone who has worked so hard to make St. Mary’s Harvest Supper go well; we pray for a happy and well attended event.

SAT 4  Heavenly Father, we bring before you all who are feeling suicidal, and we pray not only for their well-being , but for your blessing on those organisations dedicated to helping such people. We also pray for the friends and families of those who have taken their own lives as they cope with shock and difficult feelings. May today’s Baton of Hope walk in Chirk prove a useful occasion in raising awareness of such situations.

SUN 5  O Creator God, we pray for all involved in this morning’s Harvest Service at St. Mary’s . As we give thanks for the fruitfulness of the earth in all its richness and diversity, we pray too on this Animal Welfare Sunday, for all who work to care for your creatures which face ill treatment and neglect.

MON 6  In this Prisons Week, let us pray for all prisoners- for their rehabilitation and for a more hopeful life outside. May God protect the bullied and abused and grant them courage, and enable staff and chaplains to deal effectively and with humanity with those in their care.

TUES 7  Dear Lord, we pray for a fruitful Chirk Churches Together Committee meeting today  as events and services are planned. Please bless all members of the group as they seek to do what is best for their congregations.

WED 8  We give thanks, O Lord, for the efforts of church members to consider the needs of our fragile environment ; please bless the Eco Church presentation this evening at St. Mary’s.

THURS 9  O Creator of the universe, as we celebrate and give thanks for the harvest of fields and trees, we commit to you our local farmers and all other growers in our area, that they might be encouraged and supported at this difficult time.

FRID 10  Let us give thanks to God for all who keep Chirk and the station, and Fron, looking tidy, attractive and welcoming.

SAT 11  As Jesus made Healing a key part of his ministry, let us commit to God all whom we know who are ill and in pain of body, mind and spirit., that they might know His healing touch. Let us also pray for the patients in our local hospitals and surgeries .

SUN 12  Generous Creator, we ask that you will bless this afternoon’s Harvest Service and Tea at St. David’s, that it will prove a joyful and fulfilling time of worship and fellowship.

MON 13  Lord God, may your blessing rest upon all who live along School Lane in Fron.

TUES 14  We give thanks, O God, for St. Mary’s Mini Markets Team and all their dedicated hard work. Grant them the health and strength they need to carry out this key work.  We also pray that people might respond to the call for volunteers for this work and for the Social Committee, so that our church  can truly fulfil its role.

WED 15 As our world plunges more and more into violence and disarray, we pray, Lord Almighty, for a greater willingness of leaders and ordinary people to listen properly to each other and make judgements and resolutions based on reason, compassion and love.  Please guide and protect all working to promote peace and justice.

THURS 16  Thank you, Lord, for the members of our local Fire Service: please bless and protect them in their vital work.

FRID 17 Heavenly Father, we pray for a stimulating and fruitful Diocesan Conference  in Wrexham tomorrow, and give thanks for all the representatives attending.

SAT 18  ST. LUKE  On this St. Luke’s Day, when we remember Luke the doctor, we pray for your blessing on all members of the medical profession. We give thanks for their skill and commitment, often in circumstances which are stressful, difficult and even dangerous.  Thank you for those who give their services free.

SUN 19  Let us give thanks for all church members who lead our Intercessions.  May the Holy Spirit guide them in their choice of topics and words.

MON 20 Lord, we commit to you the Offa Mission Area, its congregations and ministers and its new leader, as it works to promote mission amongst its communities and better management of resources.

TUES 21 We give thanks, O God, for our Treasurer who handles the finances of both our churches so wisely and efficiently.  Please bless her and all she does, and may your blessing rest too on our hard-working Gift Aid Representative .

WED 22  As our local schools embark on a busy half term, let us pray for the staff, pupil and governors and for enjoyable and productive weeks ahead.

THURS 23  O Lord, how often we take our sight for granted; we pray now for all who cannot see or who are losing their vision and their old way of life. Grant them the patience, courage and support they need. Please bless the organisations and hospital departments who bring relief and hope to the poorly sighted.

FRID 24  UN NATIONS DAY  On this day, let us pray for God’s wisdom for the leaders of the nations and for a determined efficiency in expediting decisions for the benefit of the people they serve.

SAT 25  You’re wrong if you think the joy of life comes principally from human relationships. God’s placed it all around us –it’s in everything we experience. People just need to change the way they look at these things.  ‘Into the Wild’ 2007

SUN 26  BIBLE SUNDAY  Heavenly Father, we give thanks for the Bible which over the ages has given us guidance, comfort and strength.  We pray for all organisations which promote the Bible and which bring copies to people who would otherwise be denied access to its wisdom.

MON 27  Loving Lord God, we confess it is easy to pray for people who are ill or in need , and we forget those who bear the responsibility of looking after them , often at the expense of their own health and independence. So we bring them before you now and ask that they too will be granted the support and love they would welcome.

TUES 28  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

WED 29  Let us ask for God’s blessing on all who live in Maes Y Waun in Chirk.

THURS 30  Lord God Almighty, we give thanks that in this country we can worship and pray together without hindrance, but we ask you to bless and protect all who face persecution for expressing their faith.

FRID 31  Hallowe’en  On this eve before we celebrate the Saints of the church, let us pray for all who distort the Christian faith , all who turn to spiritual experiences which involve the occult: may they come to know the true light and God’s all-embracing love.
