Churchyard September News Update

Published by F Smith on

Kit Twigg has just done the September bird survey and said that very few species about and not one Blackbird! However, it’s the same in my surveys at Chirk castle at the moment – Blackbirds are shy this time of year during their moult.

It was good to see a family of noisy Nuthatches flitting between the conifers around the mausoleum.

The team has been busy cutting the long grass and racking it off the wild flower area. We will be sowing yellow rattle to try and lower the long grass next year.

We have started to edge the paths and weed the main herbaceous flower beds.

We held a very successful Bank Holiday BBQ and Teddy Bear Zip wire family fun day. A huge thank you to zip wire organisers, BBQ cooks, games organisers, refreshments and stall helpers. The sun shone and loads of families and friends attended.

Paul will be attending the RHS “It’s Your Neighbourhood” awards ceremony this week to be held in South Wales.
